ADVANCED TRAINING ON MEDIA AND INFORMATION LITERACY
On April 30 – May 1, 2025, a two-day advanced training on media and information literacy was held at the Ashgabat office of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE). The event was jointly organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the OSCE Center in Turkmenistan. Representatives from the country's ministries and sectoral administrative bodies, political institutions, mass media, and higher educational institutions, including instructors from the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, took part in the event.
As is well known, Turkmenistan effectively develops mutually beneficial cooperation with the OSCE in the humanitarian sphere, particularly in the development of science and education. Within the framework of this cooperation, regular training seminars, meetings, and competitions are organized with national specialists in the relevant areas. The goal of this advanced media and information literacy training was to improve the literacy of journalists and public servants in the field of information, and to enhance the journalistic skills of national professionals. OSCE experts provided valuable advice on improving media literacy based on the relevant theme. The training session was conducted effectively in a question-and-answer format.
