THE INTERNATIONAL SCIENTIFIC-PRACTICAL CONFERENCE «FOREIGN POLICY AND DIPLOMACY OF TURKMENISTAN: COOPERATION FOR THE SAKE OF PEACE, SAFETY AND SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT» IS HELD
On May 13, 2025, an International Scientific-Practical Conference entitled «Foreign Policy and Diplomacy of Turkmenistan: Cooperation for the Sake of Peace, Safety and Sustainable Development» began its work at the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan. The representatives of the scientific and creative intelligentsia from 11 countries of the world, including the United States of America, the Kingdom of Belgium, the Islamic Republic of Iran, the Federal Republic of Germany, the Kyrgyz Republic, the People's Republic of China, the State of Qatar, Uzbekistan, the Russian Federation, Tajikistan, and Romania, participants of II International Competition "International Relations: Culture of Peaceful Dialogue», as well as, professors, instructors, and students of higher educational institutions of Turkmenistan participated in it.
The conference participants viewed an exhibition organized at the Institute's foyer displaying the works of applied and decorative art, which reflected the Independence and Neutrality of our country, the prosperous life of the sovereign Turkmen state, and describing the history of our people. The works of our Esteemed President and Hero Arkadag, as well as the national values of the Turkmen people, arouse great interest among the conference participants. The guests also visited to the Museum of the History of Turkmen Diplomacy.
Then, the Plenary Session of the Conference started its work. First, Gulshat Yusupova, the Rector of the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, delivered a welcome speech to the participants of the International Scientific-Practical Conference. As well as, Mohamed Al-Horr, Director of the Diplomatic Institute of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the State of Qatar, Amangeldi Rakhmanov, Head of the Department of International Relations and Diplomacy of the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, Doctor of Historical Sciences, Professor, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Turkmenistan, Master Diplomat of Turkmenistan, Zhang Jian, Doctor of Philosophy, Associate Professor, Director of the Diplomatic Studies Teaching and Research Office, Deputy Director of the Russian Research Center of the China Foreign Affairs University, Yevgeniy Kozhokin, Professor of the Department of International Relations and Russian Foreign Policy at the Moscow State Institute (University) of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, Doctor of Historical Sciences, Manouchehr Moradi, Career Ambassador and Senior Expert at the Center for Political and International Studies of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Mourat Tchoshanov, Doctor of Philosophy, Professor at the University of Texas at El Paso, USA, and Tobias Stüdemann, Director of the Liasision Office Eastern Europe of the Federal Republic of Germany made speeches.
As noted in the speeches, comprehensive support for positive international dialogue with the aim of jointly and actively participating in solving urgent problems of present, strengthening global peace and stability, and developing effective cooperation at the regional and global levels is a strategically important direction of Turkmenistan's foreign policy and diplomacy. Turkmenistan's initiatives aimed at ensuring global peace and sustainable development have been recognized internationally, and the Independent State is steadfastly committed to the international commitments which has undertaken. The speakers emphasized that the celebrations marking the International Year of Peace and Trust, including this International Scientific-Practical Conference, coincide with the 30th anniversary of the permanent Neutrality of our beloved Motherland, and noted that this further enhances the significance of the year 2025, and that these events are inscribed in golden letters in our glorious history. It was also noted at the International Scientific-Practical Conference that Turkmenistan's practical foreign policy and international relations are highly valued today in terms of developing global and regional relations, expanding good-neighborly and mutually beneficial partnership relations with close neighboring countries.
After the Plenary Session, the Scientific-Practical Conference continued its work in four sections entitled «Peace-building Principles of the Policy of Neutrality: the National Experience of Turkmenistan», «Economic Diplomacy - an Effective Tool for Cooperation in the Field of Sustainable Development», «Cultural Diplomacy: National and Universal Principles of Humanitarian Relations», and «World Experience in Training Specialists in the Field of International Relations: Scientific, Educational and Teaching Activities». Speakers in the sections presented extensive scientific information on relevant topics. In particular, the speeches emphasized Turkmenistan's active participation in authoritative international, regional and interstate cooperation mechanisms, which greatly contributes to strengthening the culture of peace and trust, and in this regard, the priority tasks of Turkmenistan's purposeful and long-term cooperation with the United Nations.
