A Webinar Dedicated to the Archaeological Cooperation within Turkmen-Russian Relations Was Held
On October 15, 2026, a webinar dedicated to archaeological cooperation and joint scientific research between Turkmenistan and the Russian Federation was held at the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, led by Bahar Hojagulyyeva, Doctor of Historical Sciences. The webinar was attended by representatives of the foreign policy agencies of both countries, prominent archaeologists, historians, and experts from cultural heritage organizations.
During the conference, the results of archaeological research conducted over many years by Turkmen and Russian scientists at historical and cultural monuments in Turkmenistan—such as Merv, Nisa, Dehestan, and Margush—were highlighted. Views were exchanged on the use of modern digital technologies and research methods in archaeological work.
Regarding the archiving of historical finds, the importance of sharing experience between museums and scientific institutions of the two countries in studying and restoring discovered historical artifacts was emphasized.
At the conclusion of the conference, the parties agreed to expand cooperation by organizing joint expeditions in upcoming archaeological seasons, publishing collections of scientific articles, and training young specialists. This webinar demonstrated once again that Turkmen-Russian cultural, humanitarian, and scientific relations are growing, and that archaeological cooperation plays a major role in studying and preserving the historical and cultural heritage of both nations.
