Contest on the Sustainable Development Goals
Today, November 15, 2021, a contest titled “Young people have role in achieving SDGs” was organized by the “Lingvo World” Club of the Department of World Languages of the Institute of International Relations of the MFA of Turkmenistan among the first and second year students of the four faculties of the Institute and school students of the school no.76. The contest was held in English. The aim of the contest were to improve language skills of students, especially their speaking skills, to raise their awareness about the Sustainable Development Goals, to develop their analytical and critical thinking.
At the contest four teams, one team from each faculty and two school students in each team competed in the following tasks. They were:
1) to make a presentation on one of the SGDs;
2) to translate extracts from the book by the esteemed President of Turkmenistan “Turkmenistan is on the way to achieving Sustainable Development Goals”;
3) to speak in English about the selected sustainable development goal and make proposals to achieve the goal.
The jury consisted of the lecturers of the Department of World Languages. At the end of the contest, the jury fairly assessed the peformed tasks and announced the winners.
The first place was nominated to the team from the Faculty of International Law, the second – the Faculty of International Economic Relations, the third – the Faculty of International Relations.
