Competition in Geography and Ecology
REGULATIONS
of the competition in Geography and Ecology among graduating students of secondary schools, organized by the Department of International Relations and Diplomacy of the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan on the occasion of the International Day of Zero Waste
Each day of the era of the Revival of the New Epoch of the Powerful State is marked by glorious events. Under the leadership of our Honorable President, Independent and permanently Neutral Turkmenistan – which upholds the principles of permanent Neutrality, peace loving, prosperity, and good-neighborly relations – is reaching ever higher milestones. Thanks to the efforts of our Honorable President and our Hero Arkadag, every opportunity is being created to obtain a modern education.
Throughout its glorious history, the Turkmen people have for centuries followed the principle of living in peace and establishing good-neighborly relations with neighbor states. Peace is the source of all progress. By ensuring peace and tranquility in the country, the happiness of the people is achieved, and a broad path is opened for diligent work and study. The foreign policy of our Independent, permanently Neutral Turkmenistan is primarily based on good-neighborly relations. Neutrality is, first and foremost, an expression of the peace-loving nature of nations and their striving for equal and harmonious coexistence.
Based on the tasks arising from the state-level instructions given by our Arkadagly Hero Serdar, and with the aim of identifying educated, broad-minded, and talented youth, the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan has developed the Regulations on holding competition in Geography and Ecology among the graduating students of secondary schools in honor of the declaration of year 2026 - “Independent, Neutral Turkmenistan – the Homeland of Purposeful Winged Horses”.
I. Objectives of the Competition:
1.1. Within the year “Independent, Neutral Turkmenistan – the Homeland of Purposeful Winged Horses” the objectives are to promote the comprehensive study of natural sciences in Turkmenistan; to enhance the general understanding of international affairs and various related fields among graduating secondary school students; and to identify talented youth;
1.2. To further develop relations within the educational system among secondary school students and to facilitate the continuous improvement of their academic knowledge.
1.3. To provide a platform for school students to demonstrate their scientific knowledge, skills, and abilities; and to enhance their intellectual and logical thinking, as well as their overall worldview.
II. Competition Procedure:
2.1. The organizer of the competition is the Department of International Relations and Diplomacy of the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan.
2.2. The competition questions and organizational matters shall be determined by an Organizing Committee consisting of representatives from the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan.
2.3. The competition is held on March 30, 2026, at the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan.
2.4. One team consisting of 6 graduating students from each of the Institute's partner secondary schools may participate in this competition.
2.5. The competition is conducted in English and Russian.
2.6. The stages of the competition involves answering questions provided by the moderator within a fixed time limit (1 minute is allotted per question). The competition consists of 3 rounds with a total of 36 questions (12 questions per round).
2.7. In the 1st round, students shall answer to the questions related to the capital cities of the world. The 2nd round focuses on the flags of the world. In the final 3rd round, students are given general questions related to Ecology.
2.8. Each team in the competition shall have its own name (For example: Secondary School No. 140, Altyn Asyr, Kopetdag...).
2.9. Based on the decisions of the jury, the school teams that earn the highest scores are awarded I, II, and III place honors respectively.
III. Competition Rules:
3.1. Each school may participate with one team consisting of 6 graduating students.
3.2. The use of mobile phones, smart watches, artificial intelligence (AI) tools, or any literature related to the competition is strictly prohibited. As a penalty for violating this rule, 1 point is deducted from the team. If such behavior persists, the team is disqualified from the competition.
3.3. The competition consists of 36 questions. For each question, only one written answer shall be provided in either Russian or English. Before the start of the competition, each team is provided with answer sheets marked with the sequence of questions. Answers shall be written only on the official answer sheet and handed over to the student volunteer before time expires. Answer sheets submitted after the time limit are not accepted, and the team's answer is not be counted.
3.4. Teams are allotted 1 minute (60 seconds) to answer each question.
3.5. It is forbidden to scribble on, tear, or write answers on any paper other than the provided answer sheets. Only one answer per question is allowed. If two or more answers are provided for a single question, the answer is considered invalid.
3.6. Any team that fails to follow or violates the competition rules is disqualified.
3.7. The list of team members participating in the competition are sent to the email address rahimakmuradov7@gmail.com by March 23, 2026.
IV. Procedure for Determining Competition Winners:
4.1. The winners of the competition are determined by the Jury Panel of the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan.
4.2. The teams that win I, II, and III places are awarded Diplomas and gifts on behalf of the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan.
