INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE IN THE CONTEXT OF THE BELT AND ROAD INITIATIVE
Turkmen-Chinese relations are currently successful example of multifaceted cooperation based on mutual respect and common interests. And these relations are consistently developing in the political, diplomatic, trade, economic, energy, and cultural-humanitarian spheres. The current global and regional situation, strengthening these ties has a positive impact on the stability and development of both the two countries and the entire Eurasian continent.
Turkmenistan and China, as strategic partners, demonstrate a commitment to the principles of peace and sustainable development. Cooperation based on mutual respect and equality is aimed at the prosperity of not only the two states, but the entire region. This is clearly reflected in the foreign policies of our countries, the joint projects being implemented, and active interaction within authoritative of international organizations.
A striking example of this was the holding of an international scientific and practical conference by the Harbin Institute of Technology of the People's Republic of China titled "Scientific and Practical Aspects of Cooperation within the Framework of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization and Anti-Corruption Laundering Institutions in the Context of the Implementation of the One Belt, One Road Initiative," which took place from November 17 to 22, 2025.
The conference was attended by representatives of such universities as the Kazakh National University named after Al-Farabi, Eurasian National University named after L.N. Gumilyov, Karaganda University named after E.A.Buketov, Kazakh National Pedagogical University named after Abai, Tashkent State Law University, as well as a delegation from the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan. It should be noted that on October 25, 2021, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan and the Al-Farabi Kazakh National University.
The high-quality joint formation of the "One Belt, One Road" concept is based on key principles such as joint consultation, construction and utilization, as well as openness, environmental friendliness, high standards and sustainable development. The concept proposed by Chinese President Xi Jinping and the network of interconnectedness have helped the millennia-old Silk Road gain new life and relevance in the modern era. It is worth noting that in recent years, cooperation within the "One Belt, One Road" format has moved from outlining its contours to the stage of carefully elaborating the details, and plans have turned into real projects, yielding fruitful results.
The Belt and Road Initiative has become a truly important, global system of relations aimed at creating a more just, multipolar world. Time has proven the relevance of this strategy, which is now considered a grand project on a global scale.
As part of the international scientific and practical conference “Scientific and Practical Aspects of Cooperation within the Framework of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization and Institutions to Combat Money Laundering in the Context of the Implementation of the Initiative "One Belt, One Road" experts from Central Asia held a series of lectures for students, master's students, doctoral students, and faculty at a leading Chinese university.
Key issues in international and comparative law, regional development, contemporary legal challenges, and the role of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization in strengthening legal cooperation between countries in the region were discussed at these lectures. Particular attention was paid to the anti-corruption policies of the participating states and a comparative analysis of mechanisms for combating corruption.
Students had a wonderful opportunity to hear from experts of the Central Asia, ask questions, and expand their understanding of legal processes in the Eurasian region. Such meetings strengthen academic ties, promote intercultural dialogue, and open new horizons for cooperation between universities in Central Asia and China.
