SCIENTIFIC-CREATIVE CONFERENCE WAS HELD
On April 3, 2026, the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan hosted a scientific-creative conference titled “The Significance of Parliamentary Diplomacy in Maintaining Peace and Security in Central Asian Countries”. Organized by the Department of International and Comparative Law Studies, the event was moderated by D.Ballyeva, a senior lecturer at the department.
The conference featured a keynote speech by Merdan Tuvakov, a member of the Mejlis of Turkmenistan’s Committee on International and Inter-parliamentary Relations. The discussions focused on several key areas the role of parliamentary diplomacy in the modern world, the significance of dialogue in preserving and strengthening interstate cooperation, the importance of solidarity among the younger generation in building a prosperous future.
Currently, Turkmenistan is actively expanding its cooperation with international parliamentary organizations, including the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU), the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly, and the CIS Inter-Parliamentary Assembly. In recent years, the country has developed and implemented new mechanisms for inter-parliamentary interaction in both bilateral and multilateral formats.
During the discussion, it was emphasized that Turkmenistan, in implementing its foreign policy based on the principles of positive neutrality, peacefulness, good-neighborliness, and mutually beneficial partnership, attaches priority importance to the effective use of parliamentary diplomacy tools.
The conference proved to be a significant event for future international relations specialists. At the conclusion of the meeting, students received comprehensive answers to all their questions.
