A VISIT TO THE NATIONAL MUSEUM OF TURKMEN CARPETS
On October 9, 2026, a tour to the National Museum of Turkmen Carpets was organized jointly by the social organizations of the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan and the “Young Journalists” Scientific Club of the Department of Theory and Practice of Journalism.
During the tour, participants learned remarkable insights into the history of ancient, peerless Turkmen carpet weaving crafted through the devotion and diligence of Turkmen women as well as the origins of traditional patterns and the distinctive features of carpet ornaments. This museum contains about 2,000 carpet exhibits that are distinguished by their elegance, weaving features, and history of origin. Such educational visits play a vital role in preserving the national values created by Turkmen women over millennia, fostering a deep appreciation for cultural identity, and passing this heritage down to future generations.
Organized to celebrate the global significance of the Turkmen carpet art inscribed on “List of UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity” and to transmit this time-honored craft to youth, the visit left a lasting impression on the participating students.
