Meeting with representatives of a Higher educational institution of the United Kingdom
On February 11, 2025, a virtual meeting was held to discuss the possibilities of establishing cooperation between the University of St Andrews, a higher educational establishment in the United Kingdom, and higher educational establishments in Turkmenistan. The meeting was attended by representatives of the Ministry of Education of Turkmenistan, leaders and faculty members from the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, the Magtymguly Turkmen State University, and the International University for the Humanities and Development.
During the meeting, Dr. Matteo Fumagalli, a senior lecturer at the School of International Relations and the director of the Institute of Middle East, Central Asia, and Caucasus Studies at the University of St Andrews (established in 1413), made a speech. Dr. Fumagalli emphasized the opportunities for expanding cooperation with the diplomatic missions of Central Asian countries in the United Kingdom and expressed his interest in establishing connections with higher educational institutions in Central Asia as well as requested support in setting up direct cooperation with Turkmenistan's institutions specializing in international relations. Additionally, he invited Turkmen representatives to visit the University of St Andrews in Scotland.
Thus, the University of St Andrews marked this virtual meeting as the first step towards potential collaboration with the higher educational institutions of Turkmenistan.
