An international conference on Parliamentary diplomacy
Under the wise leadership of the esteemed President of Turkmenistan, Serdar Berdimuhamedov, our country adheres to the rule of law and neutrality, while its international reputation continues to grow significantly with each passing day. Turkmenistan is implementing internationally significant efforts to strengthen peace and security in the region and the world, as well as in intergovernmental relations.
As is well known, countries in the region and around the world show great interest in Turkmenistan as a partner nation. In this new historical period, parliamentary diplomacy has reached a qualitatively new level and has taken on an active role.
In this context, on November 27–28, 2024, an international conference titled "Parliamentary Diplomacy in the OSCE Space: Dialogue as a Tool for Building Bridges Towards a Secure and Peaceful Future" was held at the "Yyldyz" Hotel in the beautiful capital of the country, Ashgabat. The forum brought together representatives of parliaments from various countries, as well as teachers and students from higher educational institutions in our country. The meeting focused on the role of parliamentary diplomacy, the importance of dialogue in maintaining and strengthening intergovernmental cooperation, and the significance of solidarity among younger generations in building a prosperous future.
It is well known that Turkmenistan actively develops cooperation with international parliamentary organizations, including the Inter-Parliamentary Union, the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly, and the Parliamentary Assembly of the Commonwealth of Independent States. In recent years, new tools for bilateral and multilateral parliamentary cooperation have been developed in the country.
By implementing a foreign policy based on the principles of positive neutrality, peace, good neighborliness, and mutually beneficial cooperation, Turkmenistan attaches great importance to the effective use of parliamentary diplomacy.
