REGULAR SEMINAR ON PREVENTIVE DIPLOMACY WAS HELD
On June 10, 2026, the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan hosted regular seminar on “Preventive Diplomacy”, organized by the Training Center for Priority Areas of Diplomacy of Turkmenistan.
The seminar, themed “The Importance and Potential of Preventive Diplomacy in Water and Ecological Cooperation of Central Asian States”, was conducted by Merjen Gurbannazarova, Senior Lecturer at the Department of International Law and Comparative Law Studies of the Institute.
During the seminar, the role of preventive diplomacy in ensuring sustainable development, environmental security, and effective water resource management in the region was discussed in detail. Particular attention was paid to the constructive initiatives of Turkmenistan aimed at developing environmental diplomacy at both regional and international levels, as well as the steps taken to strengthen friendly and mutually beneficial cooperation among the Central Asian states.
In her presentation, the lecturer analyzed the key opportunities for resolving water and environmental issues through peaceful means, negotiations, and preventive measures in accordance with the norms of international law. At the conclusion of the seminar, students and participants exchanged views and received comprehensive answers to their questions regarding the topic.
This seminar was of great importance for enhancing the professional skills of our institute’s students in the field of international law and environmental diplomacy, as well as for enriching the scientific and practical perspectives of future diplomats on regional issues.
