TRAINING SESSION ON THE SPECIFICS OF COVERING INTERNATIONAL SPORTS COMPETITIONS AND PROFESSIONAL ETHICS OF YOUNG JOURNALISTS
On February 10, 2026, a regular online training session was held for the «Young Reporters» group at the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan. The group includes students from the higher educational institutions of Turkmenistan. The session focused on the coverage of the upcoming AFC Champions League Round of 16 first-leg match between «Arkadag» Football Club of Turkmenistan and «Al-Nassr» of Saudi Arabia, scheduled for February 11 in Ashgabat. Members of the media group participated in the session via digital network.
The training session, titled «The Specifics of the Sports Journalist», was conducted by Hojaberdi Apbayev, Editor-in-Chief of the international magazine «Turkmenistan Sport». Additionally, Jemile Purjayeva, a senior lecturer at the Department of Theory and Practice of Journalism of the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, spoke on the «Ethics of a Young Journalist in Covering International Competitions».
During the session, speakers discussed the importance of sports diplomacy, which serves as a bridge of friendship, the specifics of briefing journalists for domestic events, the role of volunteer reporters, and the professional ethical standards required during international competitions.
In conclusion, members of the «Young Reporters» group expressed their sincere gratitude to the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Hero-Arkadag and the Honorable President of Turkmenistan for providing the opportunities and resources for young professionals to gain international experience in their fields.
