A MEETING WITH GERMAN REPRESENTATIVES
On March 28, 2026, an official meeting was held at the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan with representatives of prestigious scientific and innovative institutions from Germany.
The German delegation was represented by Professor Peter Liebelt, Head of the Central Asian Sustainable Innovation Bureau; Professor Maurice Koza, Coordinator of the “EU for Green Turkmenistan” project in Germany; Professor Muhammad Usman, representative of the Martin Luther University of Halle-Wittenberg; and Matthias Vökel, a researcher at the same university. The meeting was attended by the Institute’s Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs, G.Dovletov; the Dean of the Faculty of International Relations, M. Berdiniyazov; the Acting Head of the Department of World Languages, M. Atajanova; and German language instructor M. Gerwin. During the meeting, the parties introduced one another and discussed prospects for future cooperation. The members of the German delegation expressed strong interest in establishing scientific and educational partnerships with the Institute’s specialists and implementing joint projects. The discussions placed particular emphasis on sustainable development, innovative technologies, and elevating scientific cooperation between higher education institutions to a new level. Both sides expressed confidence that the planned initiatives would be effectively implemented for the mutual benefit of both nations.
Subsequently, the guests learned about the activities of the “Culture of Peace” UNESCO Club operating at the Institute. They also met with the students of the Institute and held a discussion session. During the meeting, the students engaged in a Q&A exchange on topics of interest to them.
This meeting will serve as a significant step in further strengthening the friendly relations between Turkmenistan and Germany in the spheres of science, education, and environmental diplomacy.
