DIPIOMACY OF THE FUTURE: INNOVATIVE METHODS AND ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE

On May 12, 2026, a training session was held at the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan with the participation of Dr. Seyed Agha Banihashemi, an experienced diplomat and representative of the School of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran. Organized during a period of flourishing Turkmen-Iranian scientific and educational cooperation, this event became a new platform for the exchange of experience between the faculty and students of our Institute.
The main theme of the session was titled "New Methodologies for Teaching International Relations and Political Science, and the Current Role of Artificial Intelligence." In his speech, Dr. Banihashemi underlined the role of digital technologies in modern diplomacy, particularly the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in data analysis, foreign policy decision-making, and the modeling of diplomatic negotiations.
Furthermore, during the lesson, interesting ideas were put forward regarding innovative methods of teaching international relations, developing students' analytical skills, and the importance of integrating theoretical knowledge with practice. Drawing on international experience, the guest diplomat provided detailed answers to questions concerning the opportunities AI presents in diplomacy and related cybersecurity issues.
This training session further increased students' interest in their chosen profession and familiarized them with innovative, world-class scientific perspectives.
