SEMINAR ON THE DIGITAL SYSTEM OF GLOBAL RANKINGS AND THE SIGNIFICANCE OF SCIENTIFIC PUBLICATIONS WAS HELD
On February 28, 2026, teachers of the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan took part in an educational online seminar on the topic “Requirements of Leading Global University Rankings (THE, QS, ARWU, RUR, SIR) and the Strategic Importance of Scientific Publications.”
The event was organized by a special working group coordinating publication activity in journals indexed in prestigious international scientific and technical databases.
The seminar was attended by specialists from scientific departments and responsible representatives of universities of the country, who oversee interaction with international publications. During the meeting, detailed information was presented on the key criteria of such global ranking systems as THE (Times Higher Education World University Rankings), QS (Quacquarelli Symonds World University Rankings), ARWU (Academic Ranking of World Universities), RUR (Round University Ranking), and SIR (Scimago Institutions Rankings).
The experts emphasized the strategic importance of publishing scientific articles on internationally recognized platforms. It was noted that systematic work in this direction directly contributes to increasing the reputation of national universities and their active integration into the global scientific and educational space. Participants also exchanged practical experience in methods of preparing articles and complying with international quality standards.
At the end of the online conference, the speakers answered questions from the audience. The seminar became an important step in improving the national system of science and education, as well as strengthening the international status of higher educational institutions of Turkmenistan.
