A CONTEST ENTITLED “CULTURAL DIPLOMACY FOR DIALOGUE AND DEVELOPMENT” WAS HELD
On May 23, 2025, a competition entitled “Cultural Diplomacy for Dialogue
and Development” was held by the UNESCO Club “Culture of Peace” at the
Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of
Turkmenistan. The event was attended by teams composed of I-III year
students from the faculties of International Relations, International Law,
International Economic Relations, and International Journalism of our institute.
The competition was organized on the occasion of the World Day for
Cultural Diversity, proclaimed by the UN General Assembly. The World Day for
Cultural Diversity is celebrated annually on May 21. This international day aims to
foster respect for diverse cultural characteristics, strengthen cultural ties and
promote mutual understanding. The competition served to deepen students’
appreciation for cultural diplomacy, the significance of cultural diversity and
peaceful dialogue in international relations.
The competition was held in three rounds. In the first round, students
gave presentations about the nation of their choice. In the second round, they
introduced a traditional meal from their selected country. The final, third round
was in the form of a quiz, where participants answered questions about the
cooperation between Turkmenistan and UNESCO. Following the jury’s decision,
the team consisted of students of the Faculty of International Relations won first
place, the team of the Faculty of International Economic Relations won second
place and the team of the Faculty of International Journalism was awarded third
place. The winning teams were awarded certificates of honor and commemorative
gifts.
