International partnership in environmental protection is growing
On October 18, 2023, the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan organized a lecture by Linxiu Zhang, Director of the International Ecosystem Management Partnership under UNEP. The event was attended by professors and students of the institute.
During the lecture, the guest spoke about the key aspects of cooperation between Turkmenistan and the United Nations Environment Program (UNEP), prospects for interaction in the field of environmental protection, climate change, ecology and rational use of natural resources. The fruitfulness of Turkmenistan’s long-term interaction with UNEP in the above-mentioned areas was noted, as well as the feasibility of implementing joint projects in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals.
As known, the policy of respect for the environment pursued by the respected President of Turkmenistan is a priority requirement of the large-scale socio-economic transformations being carried out in the country. Implementing the national environmental strategy, our country actively interacts in this area with major international organizations, primarily with the UN. Turkmenistan takes a very responsible approach to coordinating international efforts to solve environmental problems important for all humanity, and makes a worthy contribution to this activity.
