The new season of the intellectual competition
For three years, the School of Young Diplomats at the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan has been carrying out professional guidance project with schoolchildren within the framework of the intellectual competition “Young Messengers of Peace”. Three seasons are already behind us, the next has started. The fourth season will be held under the motto “Peace-Keeping Diplomacy of Neutral Turkmenistan: A Reliable Tool for Effective Cooperation and Sustainable Development”.
On September 21, 2024, the selection test of the IV season of the intellectual competition “Young Messengers of Peace” was held. As it is known, more than 800 schoolchildren of 10-11-12 grades from different regions of the country participated in the selection test. This season, students answered 100 test questions which were based on the history of Turkmenistan of the 10th-11th-12th grades, World History, Cultural Heritage of Turkmenistan, and World Culture. In order for young people to master foreign languages more thoroughly, questions from English and Russian languages were asked on the test. In order to test the intelligence of students, logical (IQ) questions were also given.
Like the previous ones, the fourth season will also be held in stages in the format of eight qualifying games, two semi-finals and a final. As a rule, the 64 students who pass the test will be divided into 8 groups with an equal number of participants, and they will participate in 8 qualifying rounds. Based on the results of each round, 2 winners will be determined, who will then qualify for the semi-finals. In each semi-final, 4 winners will be determined, and a total of 8 students will qualify for the finals. In the final round, there will be a competition for 1 Grand Prix winner, 1 First Place winner, 2 Second Place winners, and 4 Third Place winners. According to the established tradition, each of the qualifying games will be held under a certain theme. For example, the following thematic focus is associated with individual games: “Foreign Policy and Diplomacy of Turkmenistan”; “International Initiatives of Turkmenistan”; “Policy of Neutrality in International Relations”; “Cultural Diplomacy of Turkmenistan”; “The Economic Diplomacy of Turkmenistan” and etc.
The competition “Young Messengers of Peace” has gained popularity among schoolchildren. The annual increase in the number of young people willing to participate in the contest indicates that Turkmenistan, which enjoys a great reputation in the world as a country of peace and a center of reconciliation, is showing an increasing interest in the profession of diplomacy. Being a lucky student of the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs reveals that school students are inspired to such excellence. It should be noted that according to the results of the three seasons of the intelligence contest “Young Messengers of Peace’’, 32 young students are gaining knowledge at the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan. Moreover, the news that school students who participated in the intelligence competition “Young Messengers of Peace’’ are studying at other higher educational institutions of the country and getting education in different parts of the world, is a clear sign of the successful implementation of the project that was initiated under the leadership of our Hero Arkadag.
