INTERREGIONAL COOPERATION BETWEEN TURKMENISTAN AND IRAN IS BEING DEVELOPED
Friendly relations between Turkmenistan and the Islamic Republic of Iran, based on the principles of good-neighborliness, mutual respect, and mutually beneficial cooperation, are successfully developing. In order to further strengthen bilateral ties, meetings, negotiations, and official visits at various levels are held on a regular basis.
Alongside political and diplomatic relations, relevant measures are being implemented to expand cooperation in the trade and economic, transport and communications, energy, agriculture, and cultural and humanitarian spheres. Particular importance is attached to the development of interregional cooperation, as well as to strengthening cross-border ties between the two countries.
On October 6, 2025, a national conference dedicated to investment opportunities was held in the city of Bojnurd, North Khorasan Province of the Islamic Republic of Iran. The conference was attended by Vice President of the Islamic Republic of Iran Mr. Jafar Gaempanah, Governor of North Khorasan Province Mr. Bahman Nuri, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Turkmenistan to the Islamic Republic of Iran, members of the Iranian Majlis, as well as other official representatives.
Within the framework of the conference, a meeting took place between the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Turkmenistan, Mr. Ylyas Gayypov, and the Governor of North Khorasan Province, Mr. Bahman Nuri. During the meeting, the parties discussed issues of developing interregional cooperation and emphasized the important role of high-level visits between Turkmenistan and Iran.
Furthermore, in his speech, the Ambassador highlighted the content and significance of the upcoming international forum to be held this December in Ashgabat, the capital of Turkmenistan, on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of Turkmenistan’s permanent neutrality and the 2025 motto — the Year of International Peace and Trust. In this regard, it was emphasized that relations between Turkmenistan and the Islamic Republic of Iran are of a broad and strategic nature, which demonstrates the solid foundation of their friendly and brotherly ties.
