Elections of deputies of the Mejlis of Turkmenistan took place
On July 7, 2024, along with other constituencies operating in Ashgabat, elections were held at the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan at the 2nd precinct of the 1st electoral district “Garaşsyzlyk” to replace the early retired deputies of the Mejlis of Turkmenistan. Members of the Central Election Commission, representatives of the working group created under it, political parties and public organizations, and the media took part in the elections. The participation of this important political community creates an opportunity for the further development of political and legal consciousness and political culture among citizens. It is important to note that at the 2nd precinct of the 1st electoral district “Garaşsyzlyk”, students of the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan and the Turkmen State University named after Magtymguly cast their votes for worthy candidates. The elections were held in accordance with the Constitution of Turkmenistan, the Electoral Code of Turkmenistan, on the basis of openness, transparency and fairness.
According to the Electoral Code of Turkmenistan, three candidates were registered in the 1st electoral district “Garaşsyzlyk”. The candidates were nominated by the Agrarian Party of Turkmenistan, the Democratic Party of Turkmenistan and a group of citizens. Campaigners presented their goals to voters through press conferences and interviews.
