Turkmen Students Achieve International Recognition in Mathematics and Chemistry Olympiads
From January 25 to 28, 2026, in the city of Bukhara of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the Bukhara State University hosted the Bukhara International Mathematical Olympiad and the International Chemistry Olympiad among university students to compete at the highest academic level. The competitions highlighted emerging talent in mathematics and chemistry on a global stage.
Turkmenistan was represented by teams from leading higher education institutions, including the Magtymguly Turkmen State University, the International University for the Humanities and Development, Yagshygeldi Kakayev International Oil and Gas University, Turkmen State Institute of Architecture and Construction, Oguz Han University of Engineering and Technology, S.A. Niyazov Turkmen Agricultural University, the Institute of Telecommunications and Informatics, the Turkmen State Energy Institute, Institute of Engineering and Transport Communications, the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, and Seyitnazar Seydi Turkmen State Pedagogical Institute.
The country’s students delivered outstanding performances, securing a total of 10 gold medals, 14 silver medals, and 1 bronze medal in individual competitions.
In mathematics, Turkmen students demonstrated exceptional skill on the international stage. The fourth-year student of the Faculty of International Economic Relations of the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, Gochmyrat Penjiyev, earned second place in the individual competition, receiving a silver medal for his performance.
In addition, the joint mathematics team from the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan and the Turkmen State Energy Institute was awarded the prestigious "Best Theoretical Mathematics Team" award, accompanied by a diploma and trophy, in recognition of their innovative and logical solutions.
These achievements reflect the ongoing reforms and investments in Turkmenistan’s education and science sector, as well as the expanding opportunities available to young scholars. The international recognition of these students underscores the growing contribution of Turkmen youth to global academic and scientific advancement.
