A ROUND-TABLE DISCUSSION DEDICATED TO THE PROCLAMATION OF "INTERNATIONAL DAY OF MULTILINGUAL DIPLOMACY" WAS HELD
On October 9, 2025, the Department of World Languages at the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan held a round-table discussion with the instructors and students dedicated to the significance of Turkmenistan's proposal to proclaim an "International Day of Multilingual Diplomacy" put forward at the 80th plenary session of the United Nations General Assembly.
As is known, President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov, participating in the 80th plenary session of the United Nations General Assembly, presented Turkmenistan's priorities in international cooperation and peacebuilding, emphasizing the importance of widely utilizing the diplomatic potential and high authority of the UN in the modern world. Guvanch Aliyev, Aygozel Amanova, and Aylar Atayeva, second-year students of the Faculty of International Relations of our institute, made speeches at the round-table discussion. These are the proposals put forward by the Esteemed President of Turkmenistan during his speech at the 80th plenary session of the United Nations General Assembly, including the propose of consideration of a draft resolution entitled “The Role and Significance of the Policy of Neutrality in Maintaining and Strengthening International Peace, Security and the Sustainable Development Process”, the proposal to initiate the World Summit on a Culture of Peace and Trust, the proposal to hold an International Forum “Central Asia – a Space of Peaceful Coexistence” with the participation of countries of the region, other interested states, and international institutions, the proposal to submit a draft resolution to the General Assembly on the proclamation of an International Mediation Day, the proposal to submit a draft resolution on the , "The Key Role of Reliable and Stable Energy Connectivity in Ensuring Sustainable Development", the initiative to create a Global Platform for Digital Integration based on the principles of equality, the initiative to establish a Regional Center to Combat Desertification for Central Asian countries, the proposal to proclaim an "International Day of Multilingual Diplomacy" in order to promote intercultural dialogue and the practical implementation of General Assembly resolutions on supporting multilingualism in international relations which is the topic of today's round-table discussion and finally, the proposal to declare “2028 - the Year of International Law”.
The round-table discussion was productive, and numerous student questions were answered in detail.
