WORKSHOP ON MEDIA AND DIGITAL LITERACY HELD
From November 18 to 20, 2025, a workshop on media and digital literacy for journalism students was held at Magtymguly Turkmen State University, organized by the OSCE Center in Ashgabat. The event brought together faculty and students from Magtymguly Turkmen State University, the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, and the International University for Humanitaries and Development.
The three-day workshop, conducted by international expert Adil Jalilov from Kazakhstan, featured presentations by senior lecturer O. Eyeberdiyeva of the Department of Theory and Practice of Journalism at the International Relations Institute of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, journalism lecturer M. Gayipova from Magtymguly Turkmen State University, journalist D. Konarov from «Turkmenportal» and student B. Artykov from the Faculty of Turkmen Language and Literature at TSU.
Speakers emphasized that the digitalization of media involves more than adopting new technologies and innovative tools. It also requires new methods of storytelling, a shift in thinking among journalists and media professionals, and the use of modern work instruments. Discussions focused on verifying and analyzing information, the use of artificial intelligence on social networks, and its potential and limitations.
Participants also explored the tools and formats of digital journalism, strategies for organizing journalistic work in a digital environment, emerging roles in digital newsrooms, and effective methods of audiences’ engagement.
