EMBASSY OF INDIA IN ASHGABAT OBSERVED NATIONAL UNITY DAY AND COMMEMORATION OF THE 150TH BIRTH ANNIVERSARY OF SARDAR VALLABHBHAI PATEL
On 31 October, 2025, the Embassy of India in Ashgabat observed National Unity Day (Rashtriya Ekta Diwas), marking the 150th Birth Anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, one of the foremost leaders of India’s freedom movement and the chief architect of India’s political integration.
National Unity Day is observed annually on 31 October to commemorate the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel and to celebrate his enduring legacy of unity, strength, and nation-building.
The event commenced with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp and floral tributes to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. The ceremony was attended by officials of the Embassy, members of the Indian community, lecturers from higher educational institutions, as well as M.Gurbannazarova, A.Satgeldiyeva, S.Nepesova, lecturers of the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, and friends of India residing in Turkmenistan.
In his address, the Ambassador of India to Turkmenistan paid tribute to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel’s monumental contribution to the unity and integrity of India. The Ambassador highlighted Patel’s enduring legacy as a visionary statesman whose leadership laid the foundation for a united and strong India. He also emphasized the continued relevance of Patel’s values of integrity, unity, and good governance in the modern era.
The Ambassador further underlined the close and friendly relations between India and Turkmenistan, noting that the historical and cultural linkages between the two nations are strengthened through educational, cultural, and people-to-people exchanges. He expressed appreciation for the participation of local lecturers, guests and confidence that the bilateral partnership will continue to flourish in the years ahead.
As part of the cultural segment, attendees enjoyed performances of Indian classical and folk dances, accompanied by popular Indian film music. The event also featured a Yoga demonstration, symbolizing India’s ancient traditions of harmony, discipline, and holistic well-being.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks and an expression of appreciation for all participants and performers.
