Contest on the Occasion of the International Translation Day
On September 30, 2021, a “brain ring” contest among students of the four faculties of the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan was organized by the “Lingvo World” Club of the Department of World Languages on the occasion of the International Translation Day. It is known that a Special Resolution declaring September 30 as the International Translation Day was adopted by the UN General Assembly. The International Translation Day is aimed to pay tribute to translators and language professionals.
The contest was held in English. At the contest four teams, one team from each faculty, competed in different tasks, such as to make a presentation, to solve crosswords, to answer questions and to translate a passage from the book by our esteemed President “Music of Peace, Music of Friendship and Brotherhood.”
The aims of the contest were to improve the language and translation skills of students and to widen their knowledge about culture. The jury consisted of the lecturers of the Department of World Languages. At the end of the contest, the jury announced the winners. The first place was nominated to the team from the Faculty of International Relations, the second – the Faculty of International journalism, the third – the Faculty of International Law, and the fourth – the Faculty of International Economic Relations.
Taking this opportunity, on the behalf of the teaching staff and students of the Institute, I would like to congratulate all translators of the country and the winner team of the contest.
