THE FINAL AND AWARDS CEREMONY OF THE “FRANCOPHONIE 2025” COMPETITION WAS HELD
On April 5, 2025, the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign
Affairs of Turkmenistan hosted the finals of the song and oral spelling
competitions held as part of the “Francophonie 2025” competition, and a ceremony
to present prizes to the winners. The ceremonial event, at which the Rector of the
Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of
Turkmenistan Gulshat Yusupova and the Ambassador Extraordinary and
Plenipotentiary of France to Turkmenistan Philippe Merlin delivered a welcoming
speech. The theme of the large-scale celebration of “Francophonie-2025” was
titled “30 years of Teaching French in Turkmenistan”.
The International Francophone Day is celebrated annually on March 20 – the day
of celebration of the founding of the international organization for cooperation of
French-speaking countries of the world “Francophonie”. In 2025, the program of
the “Francophonie-2025” competition includes the finals of the competitions in
song performance, written creativity and oral spelling, as well as the award
ceremony for the winners of the French language Olympiads among schools.
Every year, this event is organized jointly by the French Institute in Turkmenistan
at the Embassy of France and the Ministry of Education of Turkmenistan with the
support of the embassies of the member countries of the International Organization
of Francophonie, the Delegation of the European Union, and UNICEF.
Traditionally, the participants of the competition are fans of the French language –
students of secondary and higher educational institutions studying French, as well
as students of the French Institute in Turkmenistan, visitors to the library of this
institute and others wishing to demonstrate their knowledge.
"Francophonie" is a great opportunity for French language learners to improve
their language skills, learn more about France and test their abilities. The
competition and other events of "Francophonie-2025" are designed to promote the
popularization of the French language and culture in Turkmenistan, as well as to
strengthen friendly ties between the countries.
