A PARLIAMENTARY DIALOGUE ON GENDER EQUALITY WAS HELD
On March 26-27, 2026, a parliamentary dialogue on advancing gender equality and strengthening its legal foundations was held at the Yyldyz Hotel in Ashgabat, under the auspices of the Mejlis (Parliament) of Turkmenistan. Representatives of Turkmenistan's Mejlis, the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), foreign embassy representatives in Turkmenistan, as well as le and students from higher educational institutions participated in this dialogue.
The main purpose of this dialogue was to enhance the opportunities of Central Asian parliamentary members in protecting women’s rights and combating violence.
During the dialogue, proposals and recommendations put forward by international experts and parliamentary members were heard. As a result of the dialogue, a general agreement was reached on further improving the legal framework for the protection of women’s rights and strengthening it in a timely manner.
