INTELLECTUAL COMPETITION “ENGLISH - A BRIDGE TO INTELLECT AND LITERATURE”DEDICATED TO THE 300th ANNIVERSARY OF THE BIRTH OF MAKHTUMKULY.
On 25 April 2024, as part of the English Language Week, an intellectual competition “Brain-ring”, entitled “English - a bridge to intellect and literature” was held among the students of the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan and Institute of the National Security Committee of Turkmenistan. This competition was also dedicated to the 300th anniversary of the outstanding Turkmen poet and thinker Magtymguly Fragi, as well as the motto of 2024 “The Fount of Wisdom of Magtymguly Fragi”. The competition consists of two stages. There were two teams: the “Alpha” team and the “Fighters” team. In accordance with the terms of the intellectual competition there were 5 categories such as spelling words, random questions, logical questions, geography, outstanding people. Here, the students demonstrated their deep knowledge of enhancing the English spelling forms, answered all kinds of logical questions from different fields, and geography assignments, as well as improved their knowledge about outstanding people.
As part of the event, a creative competition was held with translation of the poems of Magtymguly. Here, the students teams also competed in translating Magtymguly Pyragy's poems from English into Turkmen and from Turkmen into English and the teams also demonstrated the ways and means of their equivalent conveyance to English for the purpose of studying the poems of Magtymguly. In addition, as is known, the works of Magtymguly Fragi are an invaluable contribution to world poetry. According to the results of the competition, the jury announced the winners. Alpha team was announced as the winner of the competition.
It should be noted that in our country special attention is paid to the study of foreign languages, especially English. This competition was an effective step in strengthening knowledge of the English language.
At the end of the competition, the participants expressed their gratitude to our Hero Arkadag and our esteemed President for their tireless care for young people and state activities aimed at the further development of the national education system.
