APPRECIATION CONFERENCE WAS HELD TO CELEBRATE HONORARY TITLE AND INTERNATIONAL AWARD CONFERRED UPON THE PRESIDENT OF TURKMENISTAN
On November 2, 2026, the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan hosted a meeting to express appreciation for the honours conferred on esteemed President Serdar Berdimuhamedov. He was awarded an honorary doctorate in international relations by Hacettepe University of the Republic of Türkiye and the “Strategic Friendship” Badge by the Foreign Economic Relations Board of Türkiye (DEIK).
The Rector of the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, Gulshat Yusupova, moderated the conference. Speeches at the meeting were delivered by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Myakhri Byashimova, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Türkiye to Turkmenistan Shener Cebeci, Minister of Education of Turkmenistan Jumamurat Gurbangeldiyev, President of the Academy of Sciences of Turkmenistan Allaberdi Ashirov, Minister of Trade and Foreign Economic Relations of Turkmenistan Nazar Agakhanov, and Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Turkmenistan Mergen Gurdov.
As noted during the speeches, the foreign policy course of neutrality implemented under the leadership of the Head of State serves as a vital instrument in strengthening peace and stability, fostering a culture of dialogue, and enhancing inter-state ties. The conferral of the high academic degree and the presentation of the “Strategic Friendship” Badge stand as proof of the global scientific and political community’s recognition of the President of Turkmenistan’s multifaceted efforts to promote universal security and sustainable development. This event clearly confirms the deep respect for our sovereign state and underscores that the brotherly relations between Turkmenistan and Türkiye, rooted in the steadfast principle of “One nation – two states” serve as a vivid symbol of successful partnership.
Special emphasis was placed on the fact that the historic high-level visit of the President of Turkmenistan to the Republic of Türkiye elevated the long-standing strategic partnership to a qualitatively new level. Alongside the expansion of trade-economic, energy, transport-communications, and investment sectors, as well as the strengthening of mutually beneficial ties, the Head of State's participation in the 13th Summit of Heads of State of the Organization of Turkic States was of immense significance. This fact clearly demonstrates the country’s unyielding commitment to deepening multifaceted interaction across the Turkic world for the well-being of brotherly nations.
At the conclusion of the meeting, conference participants unanimously adopted an Address to President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov, expressing sincere gratitude for his wise and far-sighted policy, which inspires the youth and the entire nation toward new high achievements and constructive accomplishments.
