SCIENTIFIC AND CREATIVE EVENT DEDICATED TO WORLD RUSSIAN LANGUAGE DAY
On June 6, 2026, the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan hosted a scientific and creative event themed “Russian Language and Cultural Identity”. Organized by the Department of World Languages, the event was timed to coincide with June 6 – the birthday of A.S. Pushkin, World Russian Language Day, and the adoption of the UN Resolution on Multilingualism. First- and second-year students of the institute took an active part in the event.
During the scientific section of the event, Shohrat Divankuliev, a senior lecturer of the Department of World Languages and Candidate of Philological Sciences, delivered the opening speech on the significance of the UN Resolution on Multilingualism and the importance of preserving cultural identity. This was followed by a presentation dedicated to the role of the Russian language in the modern world and diplomatic relations.
The intellectual segment of the program featured a quiz focused on the life and rich creative journey of the great Russian poet A.S. Pushkin.
The artistic part of the event was highlighted by performances from talented students of the university, who masterfully recited poems by the classic of world literature. Furthermore, the young people demonstrated their acting skills in a short theatrical performance, presenting the audience with an excerpt from the famous “The Tale of the Fisherman and the Fish”.
This event, which combined academic competitions and creative performances, significantly increased students’ interest and motivation to study foreign languages more deeply, engage with the rich cultural heritage of world literature, and continuously improve their language skills.
