Meeting with the Delegation of the Republic of Austria
On February 12, 2025, the delegation of the Republic of Austria was hosted at the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan headed by the Federal Ministry of European and International Affairs of the Republic of Austria, Gerhard Sayler, the Deputy Director General for Political Affairs, Director of the Department for the Russian Federation, Eastern Europe and the South Caucasus, Eastern Partnership, Turkey, Central Asia, and Arctic.
The delegation included Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Austria to Turkmenistan (residence in Baku) Thomas Schuller-Gotzburg and Economic Adviser of the Embassy of the Republic of Austria in the Republic of Azerbaijan (residence in Almaty) Clemens Mahal.
The delegation was received by the rector of the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, Gulshat Yusupova, who cordially congratulated the members of the delegation on the 70th anniversary of the neutrality of the Republic of Austria and during the meeting, priority areas of partnership were discussed, including cooperation in the field of education.
Then, the guests were given a tour of the institute, during which they visited the Museum of the History of Turkmen Diplomacy, after which Mr. Gerhard Sailer gave a lecture on the history of conflicts, their prevention, the basics of preventive diplomacy, the importance of neutrality and its significance in the context of ensuring world peace.
At the lecture, students asked the guests questions they were interested in regarding the principles of neutrality and preventive diplomacy, to which they received comprehensive answers.
