The winner of the international Olympiad
On October 3, 2022, the final regional stage of the Olympiad on the Sustainable Development Goals for the countries of Central Asia and Afghanistan was held, which is annually held by the Institute of Natural Resources at DKU in cooperation with the CAY4W network and ESCAPE. The Olympics were held in two stages. The first - the national stage, was held in partner universities in Central Asia and Afghanistan with the financial support of the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation and the World Bank, and the second - the regional stage, took place on October 3 in an online format, where the winners of the national stages competed with each other. This Olympiad was held in three thematic sections: Integrated Water Resources Management (SDG 6), Climate Change and Clean Energy (SDG 7 and 13), Industrialization, Innovation and Infrastructure (SDG 9).
The winning projects will be presented at the International Business Forum in Bangkok, Thailand in January 2023. This Olympiad gives university students the opportunity to get acquainted with the IWRM toolbox developed by the Global Water Partnership (GWP), as well as the mechanisms and levers developed by the UN to achieve the SDGs 6,7,9,13.
In this Olympiad, the students of our university managed to take first places. The eco-project of the student of the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rakhimov Serdar won the first place in the second thematic section “Climate Change and Clean Energy”.
The holding of such SDG events provides as a basis for creating opportunities for young professionals in Central Asia to communicate with each other and with colleagues from other countries in a language understandable to all - the language of progress and professionalism.
