Summit of the Organization of Turkic States
On November 11, a summit of the leaders of State of the Organization of Turkic States was held in Samarkand under the chairmanship of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev. The theme of the summit “New Era for the Turkic Civilization: Towards Common Development and Prosperity”. The meeting was attended by President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, President of the Kyrgyz Republic Sadyr Zhaparov, President of the Republic of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdogan, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Milli Gengesh of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and Prime Minister of Hungary Viktor Orban.
In accordance with the agenda of the meeting, the leaders of the member states discussed the current state and prospects for cooperation in the political, economic, cultural and humanitarian spheres. In addition, the issues of strengthening connectivity and expanding cooperation in the fields of tourism, energy and agriculture were considered to be discussed and as well as special attention was paid to the development of effective mechanisms for interregional cooperation in the fields of science and education, technology and innovation.
Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of the Milli Gengesh of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov called on the Organization of Turkic States (OTS) to develop cooperation in transport and energy and as well as to do everything necessary to end conflicts in the world and develop far-sighted, responsible solutions. In his speech Hero-Arkadag noted, that Turkmenistan, having joined the Organization as an observer, contributes to building up the capacity of the OTS in the trade, economic, industrial, transport, environmental, cultural and humanitarian fields. «We also strive to intensify trade and economic relations, increase and diversify trade between our countries. In particular, we are talking about the economic routes connecting our states, which we consider as a sustainable and basic system for the movement of goods, services and investments in the Eurasian space», emphasized the Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of the Milli Gengesh of Turkmenistan. An active position of authoritative international and regional structures is required, responsible actions are needed on their part based on equal and well-coordinated cooperation.
At the end of the summit, the results of the summit were summarized and the achievement of important decisions and agreements were noted and an award ceremony was held. In the award ceremony Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Milli Gengesh of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and President of the Republic of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdogan were awarded with the “Supreme Order of Turkic World” to the active promotion of the interests and views of the Turkic countries in the international arena, strengthening the unity of the Turkic family. In this regard, we can say proudly that this summit was very fruitful for the benefit of fraternal peoples.
