The Group of Friends of Neutrality is a new step towards peace and prosperity
News plays a significant role in our daily live, as it helps people stay informed and abreast of the events and happenings around their neck of the woods and globally as well.
Obviously, news has a lot to do with human's lives. Importance of the news is mainly, because it's the most authentic source of information. It is worth noting that we continue receiving good news. We are now witnessing the good news because we have received wonderful news from the headquarter of the United Nations. The Final Declaration of the high-level meeting of the Friends of Neutrality for the benefit of peace, security and sustainable development, held in Ashgabat on December 10, 2022, was published as a document of the 77th session of the UN General Assembly on March 1 of this year.
Today, it should be noted with pride that the policy of Neutrality contributes to the strengthening of peace and security in relevant regions and at the global level and plays an important role in the development of peaceful, friendly and mutually beneficial relations between the countries of the world.
It should be noted that the policy of neutrality – a key factor for providing the conditions and building a platform for peaceful negotiations – is also closely related to and based on preventive tools of diplomacy, such as early warning and conflict prevention, mediation, commodity desk, fact-search missions, negotiations, deployment of special envoys, peace-building and targeted development activities.
In this regard, our multidirectional, strategic partnership with the United Nations, which is implemented under the leadership of our Arkadagly Serdar is one of the priorities of the foreign policy. Our country has initial position and active participation in co-operation with UN and it’s specialized agencies. The implements in various fields and current ongoing collaboration projects, many proposals prepared by Turkmenistan and number of Resolutions accepted by the UN’s General Assembly and the number of can be shown as a clear example of this.
In September 2020, at the initiative of our country, the Friends of Neutrality group was established for the benefit of peace, security and sustainable development. This group provides an opportunity for the UN member states to exchange positive views on various areas of regional and global cooperation. Regular meetings held within the framework of this multilateral dialogue, aimed at promoting the principles of neutrality in international relations, strengthening effective cooperation for the sake of ensuring global peace, security and well-being, as well as contributing to the development of stable political and diplomatic instruments.
The adoption of the Final Declaration of the high-level meeting of the Friends of Neutrality as a document of the 77th session of the UN General Assembly clearly testifies that the peace-loving foreign policy of Turkmenistan and creative initiatives are fully supported by the UN, and bear witness to the growing international reputation of our country.
We are proud to say that Turkmenistan believes that the regular meetings of the Group of Friends of Neutrality will lead to the creation of a stable political and diplomatic mechanism for promoting the principles of neutrality in international relations, and as well as strengthening multilateral cooperation based on the ideals of peace, mutual respect and understanding.
This adopted Declaration once again consolidates the goals, methods of work of the Group of Friends, created at the initiative of Turkmenistan in 2020.
